Posada Hambare’
Posada Hambare’ is central to some
of the best accesses of the Ibera Marsh north of Buenos Aries.
This is the birthplace of the Corrientes Rivers and home to
schools of veracious trout-like Dorado.
This “River Tiger”, as it is locally known, can exceed 3O
pounds and will wage an acrobatic battle capable of making Steelhead
seem tame.
Fishing
for Dorado
Accommodations
The Posada Hambare’ is one of our favorite
locations for access to the Marsh.
It’s convenient local puts you a short distance from the more
productive parts of the Ibera Marsh and the Corrientes River system.
In fact it lies on the banks of the Corrientes River in the heart
of a 75-acre park, complete with a swimming pool and it’s own jetty.
There are nine private rooms, beautifully equipped with all
modern conveniences. Time
on the river in pursuit of Dorado is rounded out by quiet relaxed hours
at the lodge and tasty Argentine cuisine.
The
Guides
All guides have several years of
guiding experience and know the waters of their area intimately.
Many of them are actually the equivalent of North American fish
and game officers (Guarda de Pesca).
They will assess your desires and abilities to provide you the
best opportunities for success. You
will enjoy the friendly companionship and insight they provide about the
local culture, history wildlife and geography of The Ibera Marsh.
Although most of the guides speak good to excellent English, it
would be wise to try your best at Spanish.
All Argentines will respect your effort to speak their native
language and will embrace you as their guest.
The
Season / Weather
In general the best fishing is to be
had between September and May. This
means the fishery is available nearly year around.
Because of the local climate there is an abundant amount of
vegetation. However, daily
temperatures may fluctuate between 95 degrees and 65 degrees if a storm
passes through. Precipitation
can be heavy but is quick to disperse, leaving the countryside a-glow in
the aftermath.

Hints
and Recommendations
Guests are all expected to provide
their own gear, flies, tackle, clothing or any other personal items you
may want to have on hand. We
can provide back up tackle in the event that yours is damaged or lost in
transit etc. Do not expect
to be able to find these mandatory items easily in Argentina.
Recommendations of what you will want to bring will gladly be
provided at your request.
We actively encourage the proper
management of fisheries worldwide in order to do our part to preserve
their future. Our guides
and outfitters are very passionate about their work and the environment
that supports it. All of
our trips are catch and release only, but by all means, do not
forget your camera.
